March 2, 2023

Join us for:

Lent
Midweek Lent services begin on March 1-March 29 at 7 pm in the sanctuary.  They will also be broadcast on Facebook.  This year's theme is the Sermon on the Mount.

Daily advent video devotions are available on our Facebook page.

Holy Week Worship
Palm Sunday is April 2.  The service will focus on Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and end with an abbreviated version of the Passion of Our Lord.

Maundy Thursday is April 6.  There will be one service at 7 pm which will also be broadcast on Facebook and WLKR.  This year we will introduce a new element:  handwashing.  Worshippers can choose to have their feet washed or their hands washed as we remember how Christ served his disciples in this manner.

Good Friday is April 7.  Our traditional Tenebrae service will be at 7 pm.  It will be broadcast on WLKR and on Facebook.  There will be no noon community Good Friday service this year.

Easter weekend is April 8-9.  We will have our usual weekend worship schedule as we joyfully celebrate Christ’s resurrection.  (There will be no sunrise service or breakfast this year.)  The 10:30 service will be broadcast on Facebook and on WLKR.

Free Community Easter Drive Through Meal
Once again St. Peter's will host a free drive through Easter dinner on Saturday, April 8 starting at 11:30 until 160 meals are served.  Homebound members can request to have a meal delivered to their home by calling the church office at 419-668-2856.   Volunteers are needed to help prepare, serve, and deliver the meals.  We also need some volunteers to hand out Easter goodie bags and provide prayer at the Prayer Station.

Join us for:
Chair Aerobics, Mondays & Wednesdays at 11:30 am.

It's March
Comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb is an old expression describing the weather in the month of March.  According to an article I found on the internet, this expression first appeared in a publication in 1732 and then made its way into Farmer’s Almanacs in succeeding years.  The expression reflects the changeover from winter to spring and how it can be a bit chaotic and often unpredictable.  March can be a windy, stormy, snowy month or it can be sunny and warm—or both!

March is also Lent, the time of reflection and renewal as we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of Christ at Easter.   Around St. Peter, Lent can be both lamb-ish and lion-ish. We are inviting people to quietness and prayer, while at the same time, we are busy doing a lot of extra things.

Lamb and Lion are images that the scriptures use for Jesus.  He is gentle and loving, but also strong and bold.  He is simultaneously our King and our servant, our master and our friend. Jesus is for us whatever we need him to be, but always he is our merciful savior, who came to show us how to live and how to treat one another.

You are always welcome to join us in worship in person or online.
